Brick by boring brick

She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
Forgotten the taste and smell
Of the world that she's left behind
It's all about the exposure the lens I told her
The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies
keep your feet on the ground
when your head's in the clouds
Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle; bury the castle
Ba da ba ba da ba ba ha
So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest you can figure out
But it was a trick
And the clock struck 12
Well make sure to build your house brick by boring brick
or the wolves gonna blow it down
keep your feet on the ground
when your head's in the clouds
Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic
If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
And I won't believe it
But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
Or even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah
Go get your shovel
We'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

New Headset/Webcam

After dropping Todd off at UCSD, he remembered that he forgot his webcam and horribly crappy microphone at home.  The next day my mom packed them in a box to send to him, except when I peeked inside the box my mom unknowingly packed MY headset inside.  Todd needed a new headset/microphone for chatting, gaming, Skype, etc since his was in very poor shape and was of low quality and since I've recently come across some spare Santa money, I decided to be a COOL BROTHER and gifted Todd my old headset.  With my sights set on purchasing a new one for myself, I performed some light research on some gaming headsets and with an excellent recommendation from a friend, I settled on the Plantronics Gamecom 367.

I was pretty content with my purchase.  They were surprisingly lighter than I thought they would be.  They were also wonderfully comfortable after a few adjustments, (spreading the cups over my chair overnight to loosen the width, heh) especially with their over the ear design.  They're no Beats, Bose, or Sannheiser, but the sound was on par with my budget Sony MDR-V300.  Pretty good for $33, I would say.

It was only a few days later that, under an impulse, I purchased the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 at Newegg.  Why the random purchase? I came to the decision that I wanted to video chat with friends to experience what it's like (more personal?) and possibly video blog (also more personal?), although I'm very doubtful of the latter considering I'm not very fond of my my own voice. blah. Normally this baby is valued at around $90, but Newegg was selling refurbished ones for only $60!  Since this thing came with a microphone on it and I didn't want to lose too much money on this purchase, I reluctantly returned them to Frys.  Thankfully, my purchase was pretty much worth it though.

The quality is pretty astounding and it makes my irl-peen bigger knowing that I haven't seen anyone else that I know with an HD webcam.  The microphone is pretty decent and not only can I use it for Skype-ing with friends, I can even use it for Modern Warfare, TF2, and other games.  I've only had it for a few hours but the whole thing is just very fun and satisfying to mess around with.  Just don't expect any nude webcam videos any time soon.

Tropic Thunder

"What do you mean, 'you people?'" ~Kirk Lazarus

After struggling to finish up some homework at the library, I decided that it was time to procrastinate.  I walked past all the students (books closed, facebook open) and began to browse the DVD section in hopes of shortening my huge-like-Xbox DVD queue on Netflix.  They actually had a pretty decent selection at library, so I was pretty surprised.  I decided on renting Tropic Thunder because I missed out on it when it was released a year or so ago.

The movie appeared somewhat promising, especially with its all-star cast.  In Tropic Thunder, the all-star cast portrayed all-star actors who were in the middle of filming a war movie when bad decisions were made and the cast ended up in real war situations.  Formula for hilarity, amirite?

Sadly, I was pretty underwhelmed with the whole thing.  I wasn't too impressed with most of the characters or how the story played out.  There were very few moments that even stood out in my mind.  Only during Robert Downey's "white guy playing a black guy" parts did I ever muster a giggle.  Overall it was pretty disappointing and I was glad I didn't pay $11.50 to watch it in theaters when it came out.  Yay for free library rentals!

I'll give it a 2/5 because it managed to still entertain and amuse me while I procrastinined even more
